Mr. Speaker, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Syrian conflict led to the displacement of 5.5 million people. We are proud that Canada responded to that crisis by welcoming over 40,000 Syrians, but the countries neighbouring Syria remain heavily affected by this situation.Can the Minister of International Development and La Francophonie tell this House how Canada is continuing to help improve this situation?

Mr. Speaker, 2017 was marked by many disasters and ongoing crises, including violence and famine in Africa, the crisis in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen, hurricanes in the Caribbean, and ethnic cleansing in Myanmar. In 2018, humanitarian needs throughout the world will be unprecedented, with 136 million people in 26 countries expected to need aid.Could the Minister of International Development and La Francophonie tell the House how the government is helping to meet these challenges?

Mr. Speaker, as my colleagues know, today is Bell Canada's Let's Talk Day. This initiative began six years ago to raise awareness about mental health. Canadians know that it is just as important to take care of our mental health as our physical health. Can the Minister of Health give us an update on the government's commitment to improving Canadians' mental health?

Mr. Speaker, next week is Citizenship Week.Our government made significant reforms to the Citizenship Act in order to ensure fairness while preserving the integrity of our citizenship program, which was exploited by the Harper Conservatives to create division.Can the Prime Minister tell the House about the progress that has been made since our government made changes to Canada's citizenship program?

Mr. Speaker, today is national family caregiver day. Those who help sick or dying relatives deserve great recognition for their dedication. Budget 2017 sets out new measures to support these people, who sometimes have to take time away from work to care for their family members.Could the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development tell us about the new program for family caregivers?

Mr. Speaker, as the member for Vimy, I am fortunate to have many members of the Canadian Armed Forces living in my riding as well as a reserve unit of the Royal 22e Régiment. Every year, many recruits receive basic and other training there.Many of them join the reserves to get good-paying summer jobs and hone their leadership skills.Could the Minister of National Defence inform the House how our government is investing in young Canadians and the Canadian army reserves?

Mr. Speaker, today, many members had an opportunity to meet Paralympic and Olympic athletes along with the coaches who were in Rio, but we were not the only ones to have that opportunity.Many students also had an opportunity to meet them at two events held simultaneously in Gatineau and Ottawa.Can the minister tell us about the important role our athletes play in the lives of young people?

Mr. Speaker, Canada is taking part in the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence campaign, which runs until December 10, because we know that gender-based violence is a major but preventable barrier to equality. In order to achieve gender equality, women and girls, including indigenous women, must be able to fully participate in their communities and in democratic and public life. Can the Parliamentary Secretary for Status of Women inform the House how this government is supporting indigenous women's empowerment and achieving gender equality?
